I purchased this chair in St. Louis and after 3 months the arm ripped. The chair is still for sale and is advertised as leather. I contacted Target and the corporate customer service manager, Christin told me that they are not going
to help me because it was past 90 days. I was told that they could transfer me to the manufacture and no answered.
When I asked Target how they are going to protect the customer they said they can't do anything.

The chair looks great but there is a problem with the material. Shortly after purchase, a small tear appeared on the seat. Soon another and than another. There appears to be thin spots throughout the seat area that rip when sat on. I have contacted Target a couple of times only to be told to contact the manufacturer on the paperwork that came with the chair. I did not get any contact information with my chair, and Target does not have the information either.

I purchased this chair in dark brown online. It looks every bit as good as any $700 or $800 chair. It is very dark and easily mixes with any decor. It is very comfortable and can very easily become part of a traditional or modern style.

Bicast leather
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bicast leather (also known as bycast leather, split leather or PU leather) is a split leather with a layer of polyurethane applied to the surface and then embossed. Bycast was originally made for the shoe industry and recently was adopted by the furniture industry. The original formula created by Bayer was strong, but expensive. Most of the Bycast used today is very strong and durable product. The result can be a stiffer or supple product that is cheaper than top grain leather but has a much more consistent texture and is easier to clean and maintain. Some manufacturers use the bycast treatment to process their leather, which provides a smooth, shiny finish as well as protection to the leather.

Its a good deal as a "fill in" chair, but don't count on spending much comfortable, curl up for a movie time in it. My 3 year old daughter is happy with the comfort level, but she also likes sitting on the floor ;)
The positive part was the ability to purchase this online, for minimal money, have it delivered quickly, and a piece of cake to put together the few pieces.

I bought this chair less than a year ago- and the arm has a rip in it. It started with a small tear and has progressed into a gaping rip. The funny thing is I was in the local Target today and noticed that the floor model has a rip in it's arm as well. I took pictures of it- as I want to pursue this. I could have gotten a sturdier chair for just a little more$$.[...]

I ordered two of these chairs along with the matching ottoman and love the whole set. They were very easy to assemble (I did it myself in 5 minutes), and look like they are from a fancy furniture store. I love the dark brown, almost black look. We have had them 6 months now and they look as good as the day I bought them.

Happy!!

I bought this chair about 6 months ago, and found it to be easy to put together-I was actually surprised at how sturdy it is. It's amazing looking-I am very pleased. HOWEVER, it is VERY firm, almost annoying. But I always sit in it to try to 'break it in', so we'll see if it ever does! Also, it is more black than brown, as a side note.
I am pleased with this purchase and you will be too.

Not Leather & Not Durable

I bought this chair 1 year ago. I had no idea, at the time, what bi-cast meant. This chair is not leather!!! It should not be marketed as real leather!!! I live with my husband- no pets and no kids. Still, the arm on this chair ripped open after just 3 months of sitting in it for an hour of tv each night. Six months later a tear developed in the other arm. Do not waste your money on this chair. Buy something of quality instead!

Lack of Consistency

The first chair we purchased at a local Target store, was/is fantastic. Comfortable, beautiful and durable leather, supportive foam seat and back. Great for naps! I would give that chair five stars. The second chair we ordered; it arrived and looked good. After one day, we noticed some important changes, not for the better...the seat felt a little different, and it smelled weird- like petrochemicals. The fit and finish wasn't the same, and it wasn't as comfortable. There were actually several inches difference in a seat measurement we did.We had to return it, which was unfortunate. There must be some consistency issues with the manufacturer.
